Sons of Liberty
In response to the Stamp Act, serious riots broke out up and down the coast, the largest of them in Boston. Men belonging to the newly organized Sons of Liberty terrorized stamp agents and burned the stamps. The agents then resigned and the sale of stamps in teh continental colonies virtually ceased.
