Samuel Adams
Samuel Adams was the leading figure in provoking public outrage over the Boston Massacre and was a strong opponent against British taxation. He helped organize resistance to Britain's Stamp Act of 1765 and also played an important role in the Boston Tea Party. In 1772, he proposed and created a committee of correspondence in Boston to publicize any grievances against England throughout the colony. Adams also was a delegate to the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. He is a distant second cousin to United States President John Adams.
